HOT: Melissa McCarthy Nabs Oscar Nomination
The movie Bridesmaids was the much celebrated – and unexpected – break-out hit of 2011. Even more unexpected was that it wasn’t the film’s headlining acts like Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne who stole the show – it was Melissa McCarthy, who charmed audiences in her gross-out role as good-hearted bridesmaid Megan. With an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination already under her belt, Melissa can now add “Oscar nominee” to her growing list of accomplishments. She’s up against some major competition, including Golden Globe-winning favorite Octavia Spencer from The Help, but it’s an accomplishment in itself for Melissa to be nominated for a comedy role – and an extremely raunchy one at that. Whether Melissa takes home the gold or not, she’s still a winner in our book. No one could have played her brash yet loveable role in Bridesmaids so hilariously – and, most importantly, so unapologetically.
